"No," he replied, shaking his head. "It will take a lot of practice." He smiled. "Keep trying, and it will come." The sun was getting lower, dipping below the boughs of the trees. A loud, ringing horn sounded. It was time to head to the Falls of Flame.

Syrah looked longingly at the falls. "Hopefully they will be spectacular tonight. But I hope Nightwing doesn't come, to ruin this." Syrah said, thinking. "He might come to ruin it. Imagine how it would hurt, if he turned the Falls Black? It would frighten millions. And then attacking on this lovely, safe seeming night..."

"Come on," Reyx said, beckoning her to fly with him. He took off, pointing himself toward the Falls. He could see from the air that there was already a large group at the base of the falls, far enough away to see it clearly and to stay dry from the mist that the falls created. There were several Dragons of many colors gathered side-by-side; there were a few dozen of all the other races, all in their own groups, all facing the direction of the forest, their backs to the Falls.
Reyx landed, and soon, Syrah landed beside him. A female Xyxx, this one older than the others that they had so far seen, approached. "Welcome Reyx, Syrah. We gather here on this evening not to celebrate. We do not celebrate your awakening. We acknowledge it as a symbol of a new era... one which will decide the fate of us all. We do not take this matter lightly, for your arising can only mean that we will soon face an evil unlike any that we of Prox have ever faced." She fell silent.
"Look now, to the Falls," said the group in one voice. "With the setting of the sun on this night, peace shall set. With the rising of the dawn sun, the darkness that has been growing in the West shall rise as well."

((OOC: I’ve yet to make the profile, because I want to figure out the personality by RPing him. Just imagine Leopold as looking like a younger version of the dragon here.)) As they looked up, they would see the silhouette of a flying dragon, his scales dark as night, and his eyes a glistening golden. He was growing large—as in, he was getting closer—at a great speed, and as his features came into view, one would gashes and burns dotting his body. The insides of his wings faded from black to red, and he was fearsome, but this dragon did not mean to defy them. He was on their side, and he bore bad news. He unfurled a great roar, hoping to gain the attention of those he didn’t already have the attention of. And after that, he bellowed, “Nightwing is coming!” He didn't really know what was going on here, and he didn't care...all he cared about was that the people were warned, and the innocent got to safety.

The rush of wings and the loud roar had been enough to catch Reyx's attention. He looked to the sky and hardly believed what he was seeing. A dragon had swooped over the falls just as the light of the setting sun crept through the trees and struck the massive Falls of Flame. But this dragon looked like a mirror image of that which he was warning against. His black scales glistened like stars, a familiar sight. But when Reyx looked closer... no. It was not him, of course... he was too stocky, too strongly built. He wasn't serpentine like the Foul One. And at his warning, Reyx could not help but growl.
"Are you certain of this?" he roared. "I will kill him for certain this night!" He was not heeding the earlier words of the Sages. They had predicted that this night would be the end of peace. They had said that this would not be the final battle. Nonetheless, Reyx steeled himself. "How long before he reaches the city?" he asked the black one. "He comes not for these innocents, but comes to destroy me."

Leopold landed in front of Reyx, speaking, his wounds aching, though he did not care if his wounds were aching, because nothing was more important than stopping Nightwing. And apparently, this fellow had a score to settle with the monstrosity. "His minions did this to me, but I escaped. They are about a half-hour from here."
"He comes not for these innocents, but comes to destroy me."
Leopold tilted his head, interested, but he would ask later. "If you need my aid, I will give it," he replied.

"Reyx, no." Shikahn spoke, in a low tone. Syrah had changed to Shikahn, very unoticably. "You need to think. We need to warn the innocent people first. Then we need to maybe see what the enimies are like. Think properly. You need to leave. This night is to end in peace, not in war. This is no final battle. You would only wound yourself, and let Nightwing know of your abilites. We need to defend the city, but we need someone to draw Nightwing away, so he does not see you. For all you know, he could be stronger than you. The only way we can get through this, is by using our brains, and staying alive."

Reyx sighed, shaking off his anger. It was Nightwing's power that clouded his judgement, he was sure of it. Or was it just his uncertainty? Was he so afraid that he was missing something? So afraid that he would fall? No. He was afraid that he would fail. He would fail, and the world would come to darkness.
He shivered visibly. The Falls of Flame were alight, the full splendor of the water showing as the dying sunlight struck it, making the water shimmer like molten fire as it tumbled down the cliffs. He could feel the presence of his old enemy as though he were close enough to touch. But Shikhan was right. It was not time to fight, nor was it time to flee. It was time to be quick and to warn the others. The Sage Council that was before them were unwilling to break the ceremony.
"We will be fine," they assured the dragons. "Go and warn the rest of the city. It is too late to warn anyone outside the city of Ninevale."
Reyx knew better than to question them. "Shikhan, fly with me and help me warn the others. You, stranger, thank you for warning us, but I ask you yet another favor. Please help us defend this place." Ninevale had been Reyx's home, once. Indeed, it had been his birthplace. He did not want to see it destroyed.
He took to the sky with a few mighty flaps of his wings, gliding through the heavy mist that the Falls generated before he swooped back toward the tree-homes. "City of Ninevale!" he bellowed. "Take shelter! Prepare! Nightwing and his forces come. Take shelter as best you can!"
Below, Sages were closing their house-trees up; windows and doors disappeared from the bark, until you could not tell them apart from regular uninhabited trees. The house-trees glowed momentarily with a blue light, a barrier against attack. Even some of the regular trees were sealed in that fashion. They would be almost invisible to Nightwing's spies. Their inhabitants would be safe.

Leopold really didn't know what he'd gotten himself into. Who these other dragons were, and what they stood for, though the name Reyx was familiar. Wasn't he a great hero, or something? The young dragon hadn't had much exposure to the outside world, so he was unsure. After receiving guidance from his ally, Reyx spoke to Leopold again, "You, stranger, thank you for warning us, but I ask you yet another favor. Please help us defend this place."
"My name is Leopold," he replied. His wounds still hurt, but they were flesh wounds. He would be fine. "I will gladly help you defend Ninevale." He didn't know this town, and didn't want to get lost, and so he followed Reyx, roaring his warning that Nightwing was coming, to anyone who could hear.

"Leopold," Reyx nodded. "Thank you."
Soon, they had made a pass around the entire city. It was barriered - as well as it could be - before the threat of Nightwing as he came. The air was growing colder. He was near. Even the setting sun's light, which was still bright and shining on the Falls of Flame, seemed to dim.
"We're out of time!" Reyx called. "To the Falls!"

A shadow was falling across the lands. The wind seemed to forget to blow; the tree boughs grew still. And with the thunderous sound of massive wings stroking downward, the trees bent under the strain of the wind that the wingbeat produced. And then the Foul One appeared.
From above the forest came a loud, earth-shattering roar. Massive black wings flapped. The dragon's crocodilian head was massive enough to snap a fully grown Earth oak in half with only a twitch of its jaws. From the back of his head grew a pair of long, white horns that curled dangerously near the ends; his eyes glowed a venomous shade of red. Attached to his head was a long, serpentine neck that flowed down the rest of the monster's body, with a row of tall, sharp white spines sprouting from its back. This dragon was thin, serpentine, agile and flexible, well suited to the air. He had long, thin limbs ending in strong taloned hands and feet. His tail was long and bony, ending in a razor-sharp barb. His scales were as black as night and glittered with the bloody reflected glow of the setting sun. It glinted off of his wings like dying stars set in the deepest night sky.
"Reyxsssss Greatwind!" the monstrous dragon hissed. "I know that you dwell here! I shall ssssseek you out! I will find you!" The dragon swooped across the sky, gaining altitude until he rose across the Falls of Flame. With a mighty splash, the dragon plummeted into the water. He stood, glittering with a bloody light, above the massive waterfall. The rushing water dwarfed even Nightwing's massive form, yet he somehow stood steady amongst the rushing water. He bellowed out a roar, and as he did, a living, pulsating stream of darkness shot from his mouth, dripping into the water. The Falls carried it, and they turned slowly to a poisonous black, flowing like mud down the stone walls off the cliff. The evil substance flowed from Nightwing in a continuous stream as though there were no end to it. The water around his feet turned sludgy and thick with it.
At the bottom of the waterfalls, there had been three Iisowy that had not heeded the warning of Nightwing's arrival. They had been watching the ceremony, and were caught up in the muck that now flowed through the Lifeblood River. They writhed with pain as they were engulfed in the black wave of evil magic. But it did not kill them.
The three water-people began to mutate with the dark energy that they were being forced to absorb. Their smooth, slimy skin became tough and leathery. Their arm fins grew until they resembled wings, but they hardened and sharpened into blades that could slice through tough flesh. The genle faces of the water-people contorted, their jaws lengthening and their sharp, curved teeth doubled in size, serrating to be better suited for flesh than for fish. Their flippered feet twisted and became taloned, their tails contorting and segmenting until they resembled an insect's abdomen, lining with sharp bladelike armor plates. From their backs sprouted massive spines that secreted a potent, pain-generating venom. Their hands grew dangerous, hooked talons. They sprouted an extra set of arms, shooting out muscled through their chests with a sickening groan. They contorted in agony as the changes progressed, and finally stopped.
The creatures slithered toward shore, growling with anticipation for fresh meat.
"You seee?" Nightwing bellowed. "Anyone will bend to my will! See what you make of my creationssss!"

Shikahn stopped. "Something's happened." She hissed. She paused an sniffed the air. "I smell evil. And a hint of innocence..." Shikahn said out loud. Syrah shouted in her mind, appauled. "Nightwing has gained the ability to twist the innocent into Darkness.... We need to move. We need to warn the city, to flee. Otherwise everyone there will suffer a worse fate than death..."

"Out of the water!" Reyx bellowed. "Don't let the darkness touch you!" Dozens of Iisowy ran from the water, watcing as their water was polluted with evil sludge. The evil, venomous ooze traveled slowly down the Lifeblood river. It reached the massive crater lake were the Great Tree stood. But Reyx watched in amazement.
The sludge stopped moving. It would not advance any further than the ring of the crater lake. And before his eyes, the black ooze began to disentegrate. The Great Tree glowed with a brilliant green light, which shot in a shockwave out from it, travelling across the Lifeblood. As it passed, the darkness faded, and the water cleared. The green light swept up the mutated Iisowy that had only just reached shore. The green light surrounded them and with a bright flash, they had returned to their original state, looking shaken and disturbed, but otherwise fine. They looked themselves over, glad to be back to normal.
"The legend must surely be true," Reyx nearly whispered.

"GRAAAAAAGH!" Nightwing roared in outrage. "The pure-magic is too srong here." He rose from his place at the top of the Falls, running forward and opening his wings. He dove down the sliffs, obscured by the mist of the Falls which still ran black, but were quickly turning a cool blue. The sun had set, and night was coming. The water was purifying. The good magic was curing the corruption.Nightwing folded his glittering wings and dove from the Falls, landing with a mighty spash. He swam, like a massive crocodile, through the now pure water.
Another wave of light shot from the Tree, striking Nightwing in the chest as he rose to exit the water. He roared with pain as the beam of light shot through him. "Fools!" he said, furious. He rose from the water, toward the Sage Council that still stood at the base of the Falls, watching. They stood, unafraid. Nightwing was bleeding heavily, his white blood staining the ground.
The Sages looked upon him, unafraid. "You shall never taint this place," one of them said.
"Watch me!" he snarled, lunging forward to attack.

"Try it, Nightfling and Reyx will remove your head and throw it at the grand tree! Throw it into the sea, foul beast! And I'll be chewing on your dead corpse, cause you killed my fammily, and the place that I lived in! Heck, it could have been you who made me a half life! So back off, you're outnumbered and out powered." Shikahn snapped at the lunging dragon.
