"I intend to make sure of his demise this time." Reyx would be sure. He would personally remove the dragon's head.
"Calm yourself," he said, holding up a taloned hand. "The time will come for us both to use our hate for the better."

Syrah regained control. "We should seek him out. Find his weak points. Then we can kill him." Syrah said, still slightly angry. "In fact, I've had a really good idea. How about I go undercover? It would be easy, as Shikahn. He'd acept me into his forces quickly. Then I could spy on him for you." Syrah said, bravely.

Reyx shook his head. "No," he said firmly. "Nightwing has a way of corrupting his servants. The darkness that we all keep inside... it's amplified when he is near. And it grows... until it's too late. And your soul is not all that changes... your body warps, as well, until you're not you anymore. You're just one of his pawns."

"I am no simple creature. I already have the Darkness with in me on the other side. What use would it be to warp my body? It is strong enough as it is. Shikahn is already evil. I would be fine. Nightwing the Foul wouldn't know a thing." Syrah argued.

"I just don't want to see you get hurt," Reyx said. "If he corrupts you... you won't even remember that you were once my friend. But if you want to do this.... it's your journey. I won't stop you from following that path, if that is what you choose."

Syrah was a little taken aback by what Reyx had said. She felt almost as if she had hurt the great dragon. "No, I wish no longer to do it. I need to listen to you, you're much wiser than I. I don't want to forget what you have done for me. Even over these few days, I have matured quickly, and I feel you have shown me proper life. I used to be in the wild, all on my own. I don't want to be on my own, near Nightwing. I don't even think Shikahn would want to do it either. You're the closest thing I've had to a father. I don't want to lose that now..." Syrah appologised.

"It's ok, Syrah," he said with a bow of his head. "I just... I don't want to lose you. You have saved my life."

Syrah looked up the the great bronze dragon confused. "How could I ever save your life?" She asked.

"If you hadn't woken me at the inn," he said, "IK'd probably be dead. If Shikahn hadn't, that is."

"Yes, but that's the first time Shikahn has saved anybody's life. I've saved many a small woodland creature, but you were lucky Shikahn did not abandon you to your doom. Maybe we are not so diffrent as we make ourselves out to be. Maybe in fact, we are just two diffrent personalites. Everyday, it just gets more and more blurred into one. Maybe it's just my colour and my attitude that change to suit the night and day." Syrah explained. "And when shall we leave? And were you thinking of training me? I'm going to need it if I am to help you fight Nightwing. I can't even breathe fire yet..."

"If you want me to," he said, "I can train you. I'm skilled with magic... I can teach you that as well."

Syrah got slightly over excited at the fact of being taught magic. "Wow! Really! Cool! I want to learn to levitate, to heal, to shoot lightning from my paws, breathe fire, infuse it with shards of pure light, like you did! I want to learn how to change my size upon free will, to learn telikinisis, and telepathy, to learn how to teleport, how to walk through walls and stone, to draw power from the moonlight, draw power from the earth, make plants grow and command the elements! Anything! Everything! To learn all the bird warning songs and how to teach them our own! Oh, oh could you teach me how to roar so loudly that it sends things flying into rocks?!" Syrah asked, without a break in her words.

Reyx chuckled, shaking his head. "Slow down, slow down! Some of that is such that I'm not sure I could do it," he laughed. "It's a long process. You have to start with the basics. Though," he admitted, "Amplifying sound is a very simple trick." He chuckled. "I'm sure you'll be a fast learner."

(Sorry I couldn't get this posted by the time you had to leave. Too much going on at once.)
A voice rose from the forest, from the direction of the Lifeblood River. It was the birdlike voice of a Xyxx; no doubt, it was one of the Sages, or perhaps one of their servants.
"Come," the Xyxx said. This one was obviously a male. "The Council will wait to meet with you no longer. You must come with me now. They will find the answers you seek... or point you in the direction that will lead you to them." He looked over his shoulder, toward the center of Ninevale. "The Council has seen something. You must come quickly."
"Come on," Reyx said, beckoning to Syrah. "It is important. When the Sage Council calls for haste, it is best to listen."
---
The Xyxx male led them to the deart of Derinth, toward the Great Tree. It was there that the Council would meet them, inside the grand monolith. They traveled across the huge root that hab been magicked into a bridge, toward the Tree. Its huge trunk stretched like a mountain into the sky, the living, ancient bark molded into windows and doors and walkways and stairwells all across its surface. The main entrance to the Great Tree was a huge, arched set of doors that were big enough to allow the passage of the largest dragon. They swung open as the trio entered.
The inside of the tree was even more magnificent. It was made of the living wood; the walkways, the stairwells; even the furniture was part of the tree. It must have taken centuries of nature-magic to make this palace, for indeed that was what it was. It was perhaps the mightiest castle of Prox. It was illuminated not only by the windows that were molded from the tree, but by orbs of light magic that were held in molded wooden sconces throughout the corridor.
The Council's chamber was near the bottom of the Tree; in fact, it was at the level where the river met the trunk. The room was large, and round, with twisted pillars of living wood throughout for support. Many of the enchanted orbs glowed with a steady white light from their twisted sconces, giving a friendly glow to the huge room. Evenly spaced throughout it, there were large portals to the outside in the walls through which river-water flowed, falling with a refreshing sound, like waterfalls, which gathered into deep pools that never seemed to overflow. Though it was a decorative effect on the outside, these pools served purpose. Iisowy, the water people, served on the Council as well. They did their best thinking when surrounded by water; and so, their seats were these deep pools of crystalline water. The other Council members preferred to stand, finding it easier to hold Council that way.
When Reyx and Syrah entered, they were greeted by this sight. There were two members of each gender of each species present. They were arranged in a semi-circle across the room, facing the entrance.
"Speak," said a Xyxx female, stepping forward. "And we shall listen."
"And perhaps," said an Ankylian male, "We shall find the answers you seek."

Now that the sages had offered to help answer questions, Syrah was actually reluctant to ask any. She felt it was the great dragon's right to ask any questions first. "What are you going to ask, Reyx?" Syrah whispered to him, standing close to his side. The sages made her feel nervous.
