Was I tricked into taking this?

Well today was my first day of high school and We got to sign up for one elective class each semester, I chose zoology and wildlife, I like animals and it seemed interesting. But the thing is that they don't really teach zoology and wildlife, they teach you how to stuff dead animals. As an assignment I have to kill a squirrel and stuff it. Is this a zoology class or a taxidermist class? If it is than what I'm doing would be illegal, in my state you need a degree to do taxidermy.

So was I tricked into doing this?
